Acting  Commissioner of Police Stephen Williams said yesterday  during a walk through downtown Port of Spain, that the police had changed their missing-person standing order, which said there needed to be a 24-hour waiting period before a search for a missing person could begin.
Williams said that although  the 24-hour waiting period was actually a developed-country approach with regard to missing-person reports, and instead they would act immediately on these reports.
He  noted however that  “We tend to move the bar and take the focus away from the critical individual with the clear responsibility for their own children.”
He said that people usually will focus on what the police should do and forget to look at what the parent has to do.
Although Keyana seems to be killed before she was missed ,there have been a growing amount of children missing and could maybe be safed with an immediate response.
